About the Course
We will examine the underlying assumptions of the current culture of consumerism and economic globalization, and encourage exploration of ways to contribute to the emergence of a culture of sustainability, compassion, and equity. equity. The course covers a broad range of subjects to provide a holistic overview of permaculture systems and sustainable living.
About Kosters Trädgårdar
Kosters Trädgårdar is a permaculture garden, restaurant, and teaching center situated in Sweden’s Marine National Park on an island on the western coast. Helena von Bothmer, one of the park’s founders, has been a permaculture teacher since 1998 and will be your host for this course.

MEET ALFRED DECKER
Alfred Decker and Starhawk first met in 1998 at a Permaculture Design Certificate course in California and have been friends and co-teachers ever since.
Alfred is an award-winning permaculture designer and one of Europe’s leading permaculture educators. He is the founder of 12 Principles Permaculture Design consultancy, Permaculture Barcelona, the Forest Gardens project at Can Masdeu, and is a co-founder of the Spanish Permaculture Academy (Academia de Permacultura Ibera). Alfred holds a graduate degree in sustainable architecture and renewable energy from the Centre for Alternative Technology.


Alfred is a student of renowned permaculture teacher Rosemary Morrow, earning a Diploma in Permaculture Education & Community Development from her through the Blue Mountains Permaculture Institute (Australia) and later co-teaching several courses with her. With Rosemary Morrow, he is the co-editor of a forthcoming permaculture teaching platform called Permaculture Teaching Matters.
Alfred is the co-director of Montbio, a community biochar project that won the 2017 Lush Spring Prize for Social and Environmental Regeneration. Learn more about that project here.
