SUMMARY:Advanced Permaculture - Soil & Animals
DESCRIPTION:Understanding soil is key to any resilient land design. Come learn how to build healthy living soils for vibrant landscapes and resilient communities. Taught by senior instructors Starhawk and Charles Williams\, this class will guide you through the art and science of building soils for productive landscapes.  You can take this class as a stand-alone class for personal growth\, or as the third module in a four-part Advanced Permaculture certificate program. \n\n\n\nCourse will cover: \n\n\n\nBUILDING SOIL & CARBON \n\n\n\n\nSoil Analysis: Learn the ecology behind the regenerative theory of soil management. Gain skills in soil biology\, chemistry\, and structural analysis.\n\n\n\nStrategies for Soil Healing and Management: Examine regenerative soil strategies ranging from small urban settings to large-scale farming systems. Learn how to build and maintain healthy soils through techniques such as no-till\, compost teas\, ferments\, crop covers\, and biochar.\n\n\n\nApplied learning: Take what is taught in class and apply it in the real world. Through class exercises and case studies write your own soil management plan.\n\n\n\n\nLAND MANAGEMENT WITH ANIMALS & FIRE \n\n\n\n\nIntegrating Animals Into Ecological Systems: Learn how to design wildlife and domestic animals into systems for resilience and restoration.\n\n\n\nPractical Soil Management with Animals: Explore the role of animals in building soil\, sequestering carbon\, and improving ecological resilience.\n\n\n\nPerennial Systems Thinking: Integrate animals\, perennial plants and a systems approach to write your own holistic animal and perennial system design.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTo learn more\, please visit the Advanced Permaculture – Soil & Animals webpage or register below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGET MORE INFORMATION >\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister Now

SUMMARY:Nomads & Renters
DESCRIPTION:A colloquium on living sustainably without owning land \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHow do we live sustainably in an era where land ownership is out of reach? This is not a rhetorical question or one for intellectual contemplation. This is a very real question and has many equally real answers. This monthly conversation will bring together folks who have struggled with and found practical solutions to living sustainably as nomads and renters. \n\n\n\nThis is a community conversation exploring various issues around living landless. Each week\, we will have a different guest join us and share their wisdom\, followed by time for community conversation.  This colloquium is solution-focused with a goal of sharing the practical skills needed to make land-centric living without ownership possible. \n\n\n\n\n\nTo learn more\, please visit the Nomads & Renters webpage or register below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGET MORE INFORMATION >\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister Now\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n Step 1 of 2 – Your Details\n \n \n 50%\n \n \n Contact InformationPreferred Name(Required)How would you like us to refer to you?\n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n \n PronounsselectShe/herThey/themHe/himPrefer not to sayOtherWhat pronone would you like us to use refering to you?Other NameDo you have another name we need to know for tracking your payments or homework submission. \n \n \n Other First\n \n \n \n \n Other Last\n \n \n \n E-mail(Required)\n \n Phone NumberAbout YouHow did you hear about this class?(Required)Earth Activist Training websiteEarth Activist Training social media or newsletterStarhawk's social media or newsletterFellow Earth Activist – please share their name so that we can thank themChris Gilmour via Chris Outdoors (Canada)Deanery Project (Canada)OUR Ecovillage (Canada)Javan BernakevitchOtherWho refered you to Earth Activist Training?Personal GoalsWhat goals do you have for taking this course? SUMMARY:Advanced Permaculture - Food Forest & Forest Ecology
DESCRIPTION:Forest systems are critical for carbon sequestration\, climate disaster mitigation\, and a host of ecosystem services. Forests are also valuable elements in a design for food\, fuel\, building materials\, and medicinal crop production. Join Starhawk and Charles Williams to learn about the ecology of forests and principles for designing and maintaining productive forest systems. This class can be taken as a stand-alone class for personal growth or as the fourth module in a four-part Advanced Permaculture certificate program. \n\n\n\nCourse will cover: \n\n\n\nDEVELOPMENT & CARE OF FORESTS \n\n\n\n\nForest Ecology: Explore the intricacies of forest ecology\, disturbance and succession\, forest architecture\, and fungal/bacterial relationships. Gain skills in reading and understanding your local forests.\n\n\n\nApplied Forestry: Learn forest measurement\, analysis and best management practices (BMP). Apply what you learn in class to your context\, ranging from classic rural woodlands to complex urban forests. \n\n\n\nForest Management Plans: Apply concepts from class to write a forest management plan.\n\n\n\n\nFOOD FORESTS & PERENNIAL SYSTEMS \n\n\n\n\nDesigning and Building Food Forests: Learn how to approach food forest design\, ranging from how to select cultivars to how to arrange your plans for beneficial relationships.\n\n\n\nManagement of Trees and Food Forests: Gain tools and techniques for food forest maintenance and care. Learn how to adapt food forest theory to a range of places and spaces.\n\n\n\nBuilding a Design: Building off what was discussed in class\, design a food forest for your region\, and write a plan for management and maintenance.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTo learn more\, please visit the Advanced Permaculture – Food Forests & Forest Ecology webpage or register below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGET MORE INFORMATION >\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister Now
